Rock Up and Sing

ROCK UP and Sing is lead by Soprano and Musical Director Rhiannon Gayle whose ambition is to ensure that “music and singing is accessible to everyone and anyone with the passion and courage to join in.”

ROCK UP is unlike any other choir in Yorkshire and fills a specific niche:  For those people who want to be a part of a choir, but who dislike the exclusivity that often comes along with it. There is no auditioning for ROCK UP and no need to read music and no previous experience is necessary, just a passion for singing.

The Repertoire of ROCK UP and SING focusses on some of the greatest Rock, Motown and Gospel songs: e.g.:  Viva la Vida; I’ll Stand by You; Pride; Hallelujah; Don’t Stop me Now; Pinball Wizard;Lean on me; He ain’t Heavy, He’s my Brother and LOTS LOTS more!!

ROCK UP AND SWING

The sister choir to Rock Up and Sing; Rock Up and Swing is a ladies’ choir with the focus, as the name suggests, on music and songs of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. The ethos of no audition, no need to read music and no experience necessary still applies.

Rock Up began in May 2009 and at present there are over 300 members in ROCK UP and Sing! all between the ages of 14 and 80. There are already plenty of bookings in place for ROCK UP to showcase their work, including supporting their major charity Candle Lighters at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate.
